NCWise Parent Assistant
Lee County Schools is excited to offer the Parent Assistant through NCWISE. With this program, parents will be able to login online to view their child's grades and attendance. It allows easy communication between parents and teachers and allows parents to update their child’s personal information and family contacts. Please make sure to attend a parent training session to learn more and to sign up to use Parent Assistant.
There are two sessions for middle school parents remaining. You may attend either session. Sessions will be held at West Lee on Monday, January 30, and Tuesday, January 31, at East Lee. Both sessions begin at 7:00PM. Please be sure to bring photo identification with you.
We look forward to seeing you there. If you are unable to attend either session, you may view the presentation and download an application for using Parent Assistant at the Lee County website under Parents/Students.

Spelling Bee
Lee County Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education (PAGE) and Lee County Schools are proud to bring to students in Lee County the opportunity once again to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program.
The 2nd Annual Lee County Spelling Bee will take place March 3rd, 2012. The champion of the Lee County Spelling Bee will win an expenses-paid trip to compete in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.
In addition to improving students’ spelling skills and increasing their vocabularies, spelling bee participation provides valuable experience in developing poise—a necessary skill for success in public speaking, performing arts and athletics.
To qualify for the Lee County Spelling Bee, students in grades 3-8 will first compete in their individual schools. The top three students from each school will then be eligible to move on to the Lee County Spelling Bee. Students will receive word lists to help them prepare for the competition and additional spelling tips are available at the Scripps Spelling Bee Website: http://www.spellingbee.com
The Spelling Bee at East Lee Middle School will be held on Friday, February 10. Volunteers are needed to help with the program and you may contact Ms. Mowrey (ext 1213) if you have any questions or would be willing to assist in any way.

Stuffed Animal Drive
Help put a smile on a child’s face! There is a huge BLUE ROCKET BIN located in the front office lobby where you can drop off new or gently loved stuffed animals. All of the stuffed animals that are collected will be given to children throughout our community that are in special need of a stuffed friend. Please contact Michael Clegg (mclegg.elms@lee.k12.nc.us) for additional information.

East Lee Rockets Closet
After weeks and weeks of collecting gently used clothing items, the East Lee Rockets Closet is FULL! Mrs. Harris and Annie Mack have been busy sorting and organizing in hopes of having the closet's "grand opening" in January. The closet will serve as a resource to meet the everyday needs of our East Lee students as well as students and families with a need for clothing. Donations are always welcome as the closet will need to be restocked on a regular basis. Thank you to those who have contributed so far! There are also "Rockets Closet" t-shirts for sale for $7. Money will go towards restocking the closet and supplies for the closet.

Kids Care needs help!
Did you know that there are kids, just like you, who move from foster home to foster home several times throughout the year? Most of the time these kids don't get a chance to gather their few belongings before they are moved to a new house. You can HELP by bringing in items such as deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, hair bands/bows, small toys, toothpaste and a toothbrush. Please bring items to Mrs. Sasser's room (111).

Labels for Education
East Lee is participating in the Campbell's Labels for Education program. The more labels we collect, the more our school earns. Click here for more information.
